Short, because the service is short: you play, and if you score high enough your link goes on a board until Sunday.

Using the site

URLBattle is free to use and needs no account. By playing the weekly game or claiming a spot on the leaderboard you accept the terms on this page. If you don't accept them, please don't claim a spot.

Claiming a spot

The board holds 25 entries for the current week. A run qualifies when its score beats that of the entry currently in last place; the qualifying run lets you submit a URL and a short description, and the entry it beat drops off the board. Rankings are by score alone.

You may only submit a URL you own or are authorised to represent.

What you may not submit

• Malware, phishing, or anything that puts a visitor's device or data at risk.
• Content that is illegal where you or we operate.
• Sexually explicit material, harassment, or hate speech.
• Deceptive links — redirect chains, cloaking, or a description that misrepresents what is on the other end.
• Automated submissions, or scores obtained by modifying the game or its data rather than by playing it.

Removing entries

We may remove any listing, at any time and without notice, if it breaks the rules above or if we're asked to remove it by the site's owner. We may also remove entries that appear to have been submitted in bad faith. Because there are only 25 slots, a removed entry is simply gone — there is no appeal queue, but you're always welcome to play again.

Your content

You keep all rights to your URL, your brand and your site. By submitting an entry you give us permission to display that URL and description on URLBattle, and to show them in screenshots or posts about the site. That permission ends when the entry is removed.

No affiliation with listed sites

A site appearing on the board does not mean it endorses, sponsors or is affiliated with URLBattle, and it does not mean we endorse that site. The board links to third-party websites we neither control nor vet beyond the rules above. Follow them at your own discretion.

The weekly reset

URLBattle runs in weekly rounds. A new game is released every Sunday and the leaderboard is cleared completely at the same time. Every listing — including yours, and including first place — is removed when that happens, and all 25 slots reopen for the new game.

A spot is therefore always temporary. It lasts until the next Sunday reset and no longer. Nothing carries over between rounds: not your listing, not your score, not your rank. If you want to be on the board next week, you play next week's game. Please don't buy advertising, make commitments, or otherwise rely on a listing staying up beyond the current round.

The board is still being built

URLBattle is under active development. Beyond the scheduled weekly reset, the leaderboard may also be cleared, migrated between storage systems, or lose entries unexpectedly while that work is going on.

No warranty, and limits on liability

The site and the games are provided as is, without warranties of any kind. We don't promise that the service will be uninterrupted, that scores will always be recorded correctly, or that any particular listing will remain visible. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of URLBattle or from any site linked from it.

Changes

These terms may change as the service develops. The date below shows the current version, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
